On November 20th, 2014, the Broadbent Institute held our 2nd annual Progress Gala reception and dinner at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.
Our keynote speaker, renowned economist and author Robert Reich, made the case for a fairer economic future to an audience of policy makers and leading thinkers. Reich was joined by Hugh Segal, Master of Massey College at the University of Toronto, for a Q&A following the keynote address before an audience of 600 people.
Reich's participation in the Progress Gala underscores the Broadbent Institute's commitment to shining a light on increasing income inequality in Canada. The Gala fell on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the unanimous passage of a motion tabled in the House of Commons by Institute Chair Ed Broadbent to end child poverty in Canada.
